this is one of the coolest things ever.
clampdown - the clash

today, i learned about Jamie Livingston, who took one Polaroid photo every day of his life. i have always found Polaroid photos to have this amazing allure. i think i am just attracted to all that is old-fashioned, which is not uncommon. (in fact, this seems like a pretty popular obsession now that life is essentially digital - sleek and pixelated can never replace the hazy and soft.) typewriters, spats and records are other such items that set my heart a-flutter. anyway, i wanted to share this, because the concept is incredibly fascinating yet simple.

things to do before i die
i want wind to blow - the microphones
visit the frida kahlo museum
have one written work published
live in a city
fall in love
get a tattoo
host a dance party
take many photographs
live in another country
learn where the "x" key is on a keyboard
write something with a typewriter
have a wild haircut
paint a house
have a pet cat
scuba dive
become better at speaking spanish
become better at speaking english
learn a new word every day
meet someone whom i really admire
wear an elegant gown
teach someone to do something they couldn't before
activism
learn to feel more comfortable inside this body and this mind
yearn
be infinite as much as possible.

but i don't know what i'm waiting for.
can't hardly wait - the replacements
(look up this song; it's amazing)
I'll write you a letter tomorrow
Tonight I can't hold a pen
Someone's got a stamp that I can borrow
I promise not to blow the address again
Lights that flash in the evening,
Through a crack in the drapes
Jesus rides beside me
He never buys any smokes
Hurry up, hurry up, ain't you had enough of this stuff
Ashtray floors, dirty clothes, and filthy jokes
See you're high and lonesome
Try and try and try
Lights that flash in the evening,
Through a hole in the drapes
I'll be home when I'm sleeping
I can't hardly wait
I can't wait...
Hardly wait...

a favorite quote
her morning elegance - oren lavie
"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: 'It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to.'"

here's what i think.
i just wanna have something to do - the ramones
pick up as many hobbies as you can.
spread yourself thin.
try everything.
give it a little,
or give it a lot.
give all you have to everything.
